Setting up the tree, I suggest using a piece of fabric or an old tree skirt to set the stand on. This will make it so you can turn the tree easily. Recommend wearing gloves, also.
My pro tip is to save all your old garland... Even if it looks tired and you say to yourself, I'll get a new one next year, because you can stuff your tree with it. Also for lights, go up and down instead of around, it will make your the lights more uniform and it's easier.
